Leeds Rhinos Netball ended their inaugural year with a spectacular Player Awards night Emerald Headingley.

Players, staff and supporters from across Yorkshire came together to celebrate the club’s first season which had seen the Yorkshire Franchise win many admirers and a place in the Vitality Netball Superleague Finals Weekend and compete with the best.

Rhinos co-captain Jade Clarke, who was the team’s first ever signing, picked up the Players’ Player of the Year award, sponsored by Moda.  The voting for this award was accumulated from the votes made by players after each game.

Young goal shooter Sienna Rushton, who scored 266 goals in ten appearances, was named the Age Partnership Shooting Star, after her spectacular debut season that earned her selection for the England Futures programme.

Franchise Director Dan Busfield won the Spirit of the Rhino award, sponsored by Sedulo.  This award recognises an individual who has made a massive contribution to the club and was voted by players and staff.

Rhinos assistant head coach was recognised for her outstanding contribution to netball when head coach Dan Ryan announced that the Club Champion award, sponsored by Green Flag, would be named after her.  The first award was given to Leeds born wing attack Brie Grierson, who Birkinshaw had coached at Yorkshire Jets.  Grierson was one of the stand out players of the campaign and also got the nod from the international selectors for the England Futures programme.

Donnell Wallam followed up winning the Vitality Netball Superleague Fans’ Player of the Year award with the same honour for her club.  After an outstanding season, which gained her plaudits in the UK and Australia, the shooter scooped the accolade after an overwhelming win from the fans vote to win Fans’ Player of the Year, sponsored by Caddick Group.
