Rhinos 4 Life FAQ

Q. Where do the proceeds go?

A. By supporting Leeds Rhinos, as a beneficiary of the NYCDA Weekly Draw, not only do you have chances to win fantastic cash prizes, but you are also supporting our player development. Funds raised from the NYCDA Weekly Draw, will go towards the playing budget, and assist Kevin Sinfield and Richard Agar in bringing the best talent from overseas and to our help develop home grown talent. The community game and our academy system are key to our success and Leeds Rhinos will help directly with our player pathway and develop the next Jack Walker, Harry Newman and Ash Handley’s of this world so they too can become ‘Rhinos 4 Life’.

Q. How old do I have to be to play NYCDA Weekly Draw?

A. Players must be at least 18 years of age to play.

Q. What is your attitude towards responsible gambling?

A. NYCDA and its partners have several elements at the core of its activities to ensure we take our responsibilities seriously as per the Gambling Act 2005. Beginning with all members having to be 16 years old to participate, staff are active in ensuring vulnerable people are protected via signing up to our Code of Conduct and all memberships are restricted to a maximum of £2 per week (unless you are a Business Member).

In addition, the organisation keeps its policies and procedures up to date, via advice from bodies such as the Institute of Fundraising and Fundraising Regulator, as well as having Gold membership of the Lotteries Council. This membership also sees us contribute to gambling support organisations, which is further enforced by the requirements on us by the Gambling Commission.

Q. How much does it cost to play NYCDA Weekly Draw?

A. It costs just £1 a week for a Single Membership or £5 a week for a Business Membership.

Q. What happens to my data once I have joined?

A. By participating in NYCDA Weekly Draw, you are agreeing to allow NYCDA to retain your data for the purpose of participating in the lottery. Once this ends, then we will delete your data. The only exception is that NYCDA will share your data with Leeds Rhinos for purposes of informing you about the good work it does with its stakeholders.

NYCDA is registered with the information Commissioners Office under Account Number ZA220294.

Q. How will I know if I have won a prize?

A. Once the draw has taken place, winners are notified by post. There is no need to claim your prize as this is sent straight to your address. However, do keep an eye out on the official Leeds Rhinos website and social media platforms for regular updates, please visit www.therhinos.co.uk and www.nycda.co.uk.

Q. Can I have more than one entry?

A. Due to our commitments to responsible gambling, you can have up to 2 entries per draw. Each £1 entry buys you seven chances of winning in our lottery. In addition, we do offer a maximum of 5 entries each week per person via our Business Membership scheme. For more information, please get in touch.

Q. How do I know that I am in the draw?

A. Within 7 days of registration you will receive a confirmation letter and welcome pack which contains details of your unique draw number(s) and the date of the first draw your tickets are entered. You will be entered into the draw when you have monies available and you will continue to be entered into the draw, providing you have monies available against your draw number.

Q. Is there a delay between registration and entry into the draw?

A. Following registration, it is necessary to complete several administrative processes which include verifying your payment details with your bank, claiming the funds from your bank account and the funds being received. Payments are taken on the first of each month or next working day thereafter, but you will not be entered into a draw until you have funds in credit.

Q. How do you look to protect and segregate customer funds?

A. We are required by our licence to inform customers about what happens to funds which we hold on account for you, and the extent to which funds are protected in the event of insolvency. Please visit – How gambling businesses protect your money (gamblingcommission.gov.uk) for more information.

We hold customer funds separate from NYCDA company funds in either a ringfenced NYCDA Advanced Payments & Commission Account or the NYCDA Weekly Draw account. NYCDA holds these multiple accounts to ensure the separation of NYCDA Weekly Draw accounts from NYCDA operational accounts.

To further protect against insolvency, NYCDA utilises ‘independent oversight’ via external accountants to monitor these bank accounts, as well as paying for suitable levels of insurance in the form of Professional Insurance and Director & Officers cover In the event of insolvency, the annex a holders would instruct these accountants to return outstanding member balances to the members. This means that steps have been taken to protect customer funds but that there is no absolute guarantee that all funds will be repaid. This meets the Gambling Commission’s requirements for the segregation of customer funds at the level: medium protection.

Q. What do I do if I want to exclude myself from the Weekly Draw?

A. Here at Leeds Rhinos we take our responsibilities to responsible gambling very seriously. If you feel like you are having an issue with this, please do not hesitate to let us know and we will take the necessary steps to stop your membership. Alternatively, please see the Lottery Exclusion Form on the www.nycda.co.uk website.

As a supporter of Leeds Rhinos and a member of the NYCDA Weekly Draw you will find more information in the FAQs and other items contained in this welcome letter, but for transparency and ease here are some specific items of information that develop some of the answers seen in the FAQs section of the website. Below we go into a little more detail on a range of topics including the prize fund breakdown, the system behind the weekly draw and information relating to the likelihood of winning a prize.

For more information on where those funds go and to get the weekly results please visit www.nycda.co.uk and www.therhinos.co.uk.

Likelihood of winning?

We all know that members play out of loyalty and love for the chosen beneficiary and the great work that cause does in the local community. Many beneficiary partners offer additional benefits to members as a thank you for their support, as well as a whole range of none cash prizes. That said it is important we are transparent with the likelihood of winning a cash prize on the NYCDA Weekly Draw. Info below:

  • Current Covid restrictions related prize fund = 1 in 1071*
  • Historic £3600 prize fund = 1 in 347*
  • Please be aware that additional NYCDA Weekly Draw non-cash prizes are available, which are drawn on a weekly and monthly basis. This significantly increases your chances of winning.

*Figures are calculated by dividing the total membership by the number of prizes available.

For more information about any of the above, please do not hesitate to get in touch with a member of staff via info@nycda.co.uk 01204 357 010. Alternatively reach out to your local beneficiary contact who will be only too happy to help.
