Two mouth-watering Rugby League matches will be staged at the home of Wakefield Trinity – The Mobile Rocket Stadium.

The 9,000-capacity venue will host a double-header on Sunday, 8th April with Wakefield Trinity taking on Leeds Rhinos at 3.00pm in a Betfred Super League clash, followed by the Physical Disability RL derivatives when Trinity PDRL face Rhinos PDRL at 5.30pm.

Trinity PDRL – under the guidance of their new coaching team Chris Hall, Alex Dickinson and Ben Nicholson – will be looking to compete with the Rhinos who defeated the Wolves PDRL 22-10 in a fixture at Victoria Park, Warrington in February.

It will be only the second Physical Disability game of Rugby League in the UK and it will be an incredible opportunity for supporters of both teams to see the game first hand.

Craig Shepherd, General Manager of Wakefield Trinity Community Trust, said: “We would like to thank Wakefield Trinity for their support in allowing the game to go ahead at this historic stadium. Not many clubs allow access to their pitch and we have been fortunate to receive approval.

“This will be the first Physical Disability Rugby League fixture to have taken place in Yorkshire and we are proud to be hosting Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s PDRL side.

“I am certain that supporters of both teams would be keen to stay and watch a boat load of skill, give both teams support and come and see what it’s all about. Every player on the field will have a story to tell. It will mean the world for them to be out there, playing, and be supported by the fans.”

Following a successful launch last weekend, Trinity will be keen to give everyone an opportunity to play with several fixtures lined up in future months against Warrington Wolves and Leeds Rhinos Foundation to get excited about, both home and away.

Chris Godfrey, Disability Programme Coordinator for Leeds Rhinos Foundation said: “We are thrilled to be playing our second PDRL fixture against Wakefield and we are sure it will make for a great local derby.  Our first game against Warrington was a huge success and interest in the team and PDRL has continued to grow, with more players coming along to our training sessions and getting involved.

“We are pleased to see Wakefield have now formed their own PDRL team, which will give even more people the chance to play and we hope PDRL continues to develop in the UK with more teams embracing the concept.  The Rhinos players are keen to get another fixture under their belt and we hope there will be a big crowd there to cheer both teams on.”
