Rhinos and Bulls set to face off for legend Peacock

Leeds Rhinos and Bradford Bulls will meet at Headingley Carnegie on Sunday 25th January, kick off 3pm, to honour a legend at both clubs, Jamie Peacock MBE, for his testimonial game.

With no regular season meeting between the fierce rivals in 2015, the testimonial match is guaranteed to have an extra edge. Peacock won three Grand Finals, two Challenge Cups and two world club titles between 1999 and 2005 with Bradford before moving to his home town club in 2006. At the Rhinos he has continued his incredible run of success with five more Grand Final wins, two World titles and last year’s Challenge Cup Final win.

The game will be the Rhinos final run out before the new First Utility Super League kicks off so will see Head Coach Brian McDermott name his strongest possible line up. Tickets are on sale now starting from just £15 for adults and £5 for juniors. Season ticket holder seats will not be held as it is a testimonial game. Fans can however purchase an actual seat for the match.

Hospitality is also available for the game. Corporate hospitality for the match will be a two course pre-match meal, Premium Seated ticket and car parking priced at £55 for adults and £20 for juniors. This can be booked by contacting Commercial Sales on 0113 2033222.

Alternatively, there is a pre-match fans food and ticket package, called JP’s Legends Package which will be a one course steak pie lunch and past players/legends will be present. The cost including a Main Stand seated match ticket will be £30 (adults) and £12.50 (juniors) and can be purchased via the Leeds Rugby Store or over the phone to the ticket office.

Looking ahead to the game, Peacock said, “Firstly, I would like to thank James Lowes and the Bulls board for agreeing to come to Headingley Carnegie for this game. To have a testimonial game is a real honour and I am grateful to all those who have made this possible. I know throughout my career how special any meeting between Leeds and Bradford is and with us playing in different competitions this season, it will certainly give this game extra significance.”

Leeds Rhinos Head Coach Brian McDermott added, “Jamie thoroughly deserves this testimonial game after he has given so much to the game over the last two decades. I know the Leeds fans will turn out in force to show their support for him and I am sure the Bulls fans will do likewise given the success he has brought to both clubs. This will be our final game before we play Hull KR in the opening round of the competition and it will be a key part of our preparations as we look to start the new campaign in good form.”

Bradford Bulls Head Coach James Lowes, a former team mate of Peacock’s at the Bulls, added, “Jamie has been a fantastic servant to the game of rugby league, Leeds Rhinos and, of course, Bradford Bulls – where it all began for him.

“He wanted to see the Rhinos go up against us and we were happy to accept his request. The game will provide us with another high-quality test, in which we will make use of a full squad. It will be another step up for us.

“For us, by that point, it will be about ironing things out, readying ourselves for regular-season action. I am sure there will be a great atmosphere at Headingley. It is a game for our supporters to look forward to."
