Hardbottle joins Eagles

Young Leeds Rhinos prop Luke Hardbottle has joined Co-Operative National League side Sheffield Eagles until the end of the season.

The transfer deadline for National League clubs was last week and Hardbottle joined the Eagles in time to play in their remaining games this season but missed their exciting live game on Sky last Thursday against Gateshead.

Hardbottle was one of ten Reserve Academy players who were told recently that they would not be offered a contract next season and the chance to show his ability with the Eagles will be an ideal chance for him to attract a contract for the 2010 season.

Hardbottle made 13 appearances for the Reserve Academy this season, seven of which were in the starting line up, and scored two tries. His last appearance came in the 20-19 win over Hull KR a fortnight ago. He is expected to be in the Eagles squad for this weekend’s big Championship clash with Whitehaven, when he could up against new Leeds signing Kyle Amor
