Leeds Rhinos Greatest Super League games 80-71

On Sunday 29th March, Leeds Rhinos will host Warrington Wolves at AMT Headingley on a special occasion for the Super League competition. The game will mark 30 years to the day since the first Super League game between Paris and Sheffield, with Leeds and Warrington having met on that inaugural weekend back in 1996.

To mark the occasion, the Rhinos have unveiled a new look heritage shirt and there will be a great retro feel around the gameday and build up. To celebrate the last three decades we are counting down Leeds' top 100 Super League games including play offs, Super 8s and Grand Finals.

Every day we will be revealing another ten games building up to Friday 27th March when the top ten will be announced.

80. Wigan Warriors v Leeds Rhinos 2022

An unbelievable second half performance saw Leeds Rhinos book their place in the Betfred Super League Grand Final with a 20-8 win over Wigan Warriors at the DW Stadium.

79. Crusaders v Leeds Rhinos 2010

Brian McClennan started his final season as Leeds coach with a wintery encounter with Crusaders. With new signing Brett Delaney out to impress, the Rhinos had to overcome the snow and a passionate home crowd to get the win at Wrexham.

78. Leeds Rhinos v Catalans Dragons ClubCall 2009

In 2009, Leeds chose to take on Catalans Dragons with the first ever Club Call at Headingley for a place at Old Trafford for a third consecutive time.

The Rhinos booked their return to Old Trafford with a hard fought 27-20 win over Catalans Dragons.

77. Wigan Warriors v Leeds Rhinos 2008

Brian McClennan’s Leeds side produced a fitting performance in their penultimate game of the 2008 season against Wigan Warriors.

Seven different Rhinos players were on the scoresheet at the JJB Stadium, including Brent Webb and Lee Smith who both scored two tries.

The Rhinos recorded their biggest ever win at Wigan with a spectacular display to win 52-16.

76. Leeds Rhinos v Hull KR 2018

With Headingley being developed, the Rhinos took their opening home game of the season across the city for the first ever Super League game at Leeds United's Elland Road.

The game had extra significance as Leeds legend Danny McGuire played his first game for Hull KR after leaving Headingley having led the Rhinos to the 2017 Grand Final win. A hat trick of tries from centre Jimmy Keinhorst made sure that the Rhinos made it two wins from two at the start of the new Betfred Super League season.

75. Wigan Warriors v Leeds Rhinos 2002

The young Rhinos produce an incredible fightback to beat Wigan having trailed 26-10 at the start of the second half.

74. Leeds Rhinos v Bradford Bulls, Magic Weekend 2012

Five tries from Danny McGuire helped the Rhinos to a hard earned 37-22 win over Bradford Bulls to take them back into the top eight.

Leeds Rhinos were looking to continue their unbeaten record at the Magic Weekend and avenge their defeat earlier this season at Odsal against a determined Bulls outfit.

73. Leeds Rhinos v Halifax Blue Sox Play Offs 1998

Graham Murray’s Leeds side began their road to Old Trafford with a home clash against Halifax Blue Sox in their first play off match.

The previous week, a much changed Leeds side had been humiliated at Thrum Hall with fans calling for the head of boss Graham Murray in the wake of that 42-0 defeat. However, Murray was vindicated as Leeds can back in style to defeat the Blue Sox.
