Race for the League Leaders' Shield concludes this Sunday at Headingley
It’s been a close fought season in the Betfred Women’s Super League and the action goes down to the wire on Sunday afternoon as Leeds Rhinos, York City Knights and St Helens all vie for the chance to lift the League Leaders’ Shield.
Leeds and York meet in a huge clash at Headingley Stadium, kick off 1pm, in what could be the deciding game as to which team walks away with the shield. St Helens have an outside chance to win their second piece of silverware this year if they beat both Huddersfield tonight and Wigan on Sunday and score more than 100 combined points across the matches.
The Rhinos have spent the last three weeks preparing for the fixture as they had a bye week in round nine. The League Leaders’ Shield has evaded Leeds’ grasps since 2018, when the club last finished top of the league. Leeds were in top spot on points difference until last week, with their only defeats coming against York and then St Helens.
York have led the league for most of the season as they didn’t lose a match until round seven at the hands of St Helens in a tight 13-4 result, which has been a change to the Knights’ high scoring matches this season.
One of the Knights’ strengths is that they have players in their ranks that know what it takes to win a League Leaders title. The likes of Tamzin Renouf, captain Sinead Peach, Kelsey Gentles and more were a part of the Castleford team in 2019 that competed for all three pieces of silverware, notably taking away the League Leaders title for the first time.
Ones to Watch

Tara Jane Stanley
One of York's highest profile signings for the 2022 season, England international Tara-Jane Stanley hasn’t disappointed in this World Cup year.
During the Knights' Challenge Cup campaign, she amassed 84 points and has added a further 75 points during the league campaign with six tries, 25 goals and one drop goal.

Katie Langan
Half back and co-captain Katie Langan has been one of the Knights’ top performers in 2022 and has benefitted from the additions that Lindsay Anfield has brought to the club.
Last time out against Wigan, she capped off a good performance with her first try of the league camaign.

Hollie Dodd
After debuting in the 2019 Challenge Cup Final, Hollie Dodd is one of the competition’s best young forwards.
Many forget that the back rower is still only 18 years-old but she has made a name for herself on both the domestic and international level. She has four tries to her name during the league season.

Zoe Hornby scored tries in both halves for the Rhinos but it wasn't enough against a York side that played the second half with 12 players but nevertheless managed to score three tries, courtesy of Alisha Clayton, Tamzin Renouf and Olivia Wood.
