Leeds Rhinos Women travelled to Craven Park for the first time in the team's history to face Barrow Raiders Ladies for the second time this season.
Evie Cousins started at full-back, with Ruby Enright ruled out through injury and Liv Whitehead switching to the wing. Young Academy stars Ruby Bruce, Tilly Jae Brown and Grace Short retained their places in the squad.
The Rhinos took little time to settle into the game with a try after just one minute. Lucy Murray with a powerful run to make the metres for her team before getting the ball away to the supporting Amy Hardcastle who dived over for the opener. Keara Bennett landing the conversion.
Shona Hoyle showed her strength to get the Rhinos into dangerous attacking territory. The ball was then spread out wide but the final pass was just out of reach of Sophie Robinson on the wing.
The homeside responded with a period of pressure and Leeds were forced to do some scrambling goal line defence to keep them out. Barrow were eventually rewarded with a great try from Sam Norman who found space in the Leeds defence to go over in the corner. The conversion attempt from Jodie Litherland falling short.
The Rhinos soon took back control when Hanna Butcher, Evie Cousins and Amy Hardcastle combined to get the ball out wide to Liv Whitehead in the corner.
On 20 minutes Leeds were in again, with Hardcastle once more attacking the game, handing off two defenders to put the Rhinos on the front foot. In the next set the centre once again got the ball away to Liv Whitehead on the wing to send her away for her second.
There was no let up for the home side and three minutes later Whitehead took the pass from Hardcastle to complete her hat trick and the pair linked up again before the half hour mark to see Whitehead over for her fourth. Bennett was unable to add the conversions.
Leeds were dealt with three injury blows in the first half with Caitlin Beevers and then Beth Macmillan both helped off the field with injuries and before half time Caitlin Casey was taken off after a head knock. Despite these set backs the team went in at the break with a comfortable 22-4 lead.
Barrow came out with more intent in the second half and came close on 44 minutes but a forward pass close to the Rhinos line crucially gave possession back to the visitors.
They continued to push for the second try and had another opportunity to get points on the board when Demi Fisher sliced a kick through but Leeds were able to deal with the danger.
Eventually, their hard work paid off when Vanessa Temple powered her way through from close range, despite the best attempts from the Rhinos defence to hold her up over the line.
Leeds were made to work hard in the second half with a spirited performance from Barrow who were spurred on by their vocal home support.
There were chances for Leeds and Izzy Northrop looked like she had her eye on the tryline when she took a pass from Keara Bennett and used her strength to hold off her defenders and then backed herself to go all the way, but was stopped just in front of the posts.
With six minutes left to play Leeds got their first points of the half. Whitehead stepping in from her wing after spotting a gap but was held by the Barrow defence. Hardcastle then found Cousins on the wing and the full back had space to go over. Bennett this time added the touching conversion to bring the final score to 10-28.
