Next Up: St Helens

Round five of the Betfred Super League pits Leeds Rhinos and St Helens against each other at AMT Headingley next Friday night, kick off 8pm. Along with being one of the highlight fixtures of the Super League calendar, the matchday will also see the Leeds club pay tribute to Lewis Jones, who passed away earlier this week.

Here's a preview ahead of the fixture:

Our opposition

St Helens enter round five having suffered their first loss of the season last time out against Salford Red Devils. Paul Wellens' side were down to twelve players in the second half, as Mark Percival was shown a red card, and let a 20-6 lead slip as the Red Devils claimed a 24-20 result at full time.

Prior to last weekend, the Red Vee looked like they hadn't skipped a beat as they opened the season with three straight wins. Including Leigh, who Saints managed to see off 12-6 prior to Leeds taking on the Leopards last Friday, Wellens' side had run riot in the first two rounds of the year as they posted 40 points on London Broncos and 28 on Huddersfield Giants.

Recently against Leeds, the ten-time Super League champions were pushed close when they visited AMT Headingley last season as a Lewis Dodd drop goal proved to be the difference in a tight 13-12 display. Friday's game will also be a repeat of the 2022 Grand Final, which is the most recent of five meetings at Old Trafford between the two clubs.
