Huddersfield Giants Women 0 Leeds Rhinos Women 80

Leeds Rhinos Women bounced back from their opening game defeat in the Betfred Women's Super League with a huge 80-0 win over Huddersfield Giants, which equalled their highest recorded score of 80-0 against York back in their debut season in 2018.
Despite a show of strength from the kick-off, the Giants struggled to deal with a Rhinos side that ran red hot all game. Elle Frain quickly opened up the try scoring, as Sam Hulme posted the back-rower through a gap. Eloise Hayward doubled the away side's lead, skipping across the Giants' defensive line to score her second try in successive matches.
With Leeds getting through the gears, former Giants prop Izzy Northrop grabbed a quick fire double against her old club. Captain Butcher combined with the forward to score down the Huddersfield right edge before good strength put Northrop through a hole to touch down for her second.
A great shift down the left saw Sophie Robinson go over in the corner to keep the score board moving before signing Georgia Hale showed great footwork close to the try line to get her first try for her new club.
With half time closing in, substitute Beth Lockwood came off the bench to open her account for the season, along with young half back Caitlin Casey, who’s try on the hooter gave the visitors a 42-0 score at the break.
The Rhinos didn’t wait long after half time to get the try scoring going again as Robinson opened the second half with her second of the match, thanks to a great short side play from Casey.
Compounded by errors, Huddersfield were struggling in the pouring rain as they were forced into errors by Forsell’s side. Meanwhile with the Rhinos, a break from Butcher got them back into scoring range and debutant Kaiya Glynn crashed over to mark a memorable debut.
Jasmine Cudjoe and Tasha Gaines made an impact from the bench and added a try each, Gaines benefitting from a nice ball from Amy Hardcastle before diving over.
Butcher ran a great line to take Keara Bennett’s ball to get the team's twelfth try of the game, before Lockwood fended away from three Giants defenders to get her second of the game.
The final act was taken by half back Casey, who supported Bennett’s break to touch down under the posts and round off a resounding 80-0 win for the Rhinos.
