Merrin honoured to captain Rhinos

Leeds Rhinos forward Trent Merrin says he is honoured to accept the role of captain when Richard Agar offered him the position following the departure of Kallum Watkins.

Merrin is in his first season at the Rhinos having joined the club this close season from Penrith Panthers. Despite a tough start to the season for Leeds, he has been one of the outstanding players in the squad on a consistent basis as the Rhinos leading tackler (567), carries (275) and metres (1988). He is also the top offloader in Super League with 43.
