Leeds Rhinos confirmed the signing of Great Britain international Blake Austin from Betfred Super League rivals Warrington Wolves for the 2022 season.

Austin joined up with Aidan Sezer at Headingley, with the pair having played alongside each other at Canberra Raiders for three seasons between 2016 and 2018. Austin joined the Raiders in 2015 from Wests Tigers, having started his career at Penrith Panthers, making his NRL debut in 2011.

Austin joined Super League initially with Warrington in 2019 from Canberra Raiders, scoring on his debut against the Rhinos at the Halliwell Jones Stadium. In his first season at the Wolves, he was runner up for the Steve Prescott Man of Steel and was selected by Wayne Bennett for the Great Britain tour that season, winning two caps.

After three years and 67 appearances for the Wire, he signed for Leeds and was one of the Rhinos' top appearance makers (23 games) as the club reached the Grand Final. He also added tries against Wigan, Catalans, Wakefield and Huddersfield. In June 2022, he made the decision to take up his second optional year at the club to keep him in blue and amber until the end of 2023.
