Forward Beth Lockwood was part of the inaugural Rhinos squad and made her debut in the club's first game against Bradford Bulls. She made a further three appearances that season before leaving the club to join York while she studied for a degree in Sport and Exercise Science at university in the city.
She attended Bruntcliffe Academy where she first started playing rugby after she was asked to try out for the team. She went on to study at Wakefield College and to play for Lindley Swift Ladies.
She returned to the Rhinos in 2021 and after a successful trial, she was given a place in the squad and earned a starting place in the semi final against her old club York. She finished the 2021 season with four appearances, including that year's Grand Final.
Utilised mostly off the bench in 2022, Lockwood made eight appearances on her way to lifting her first Grand Final trophy with the club. She mostly appeared in the league, including the 14-6 semi final win over St Helens and 12-4 Grand Final win against York. A year later, she only missed three games over the course of the campaign and finished with her highest try tally in a single season with seven. She only missed one league game throughout the league season and faced off against her former club in her third Grand Final.
Although she made two appearances in the 2024 season for Leeds, it was Lockwood's final year in blue and amber as a knee injury forced the forward to retire at the end of the season.
Over her two spells at the club spanning five seasons, Lockwood made 33 appearances and scored nine tries.
Outside of rugby, Beth runs her own business as a Sport and Exercise Therapist/Masseuse. She comes from a sporting family, her mum was a dancer and her father and brother played football. Alongside her rugby Beth has also played cricket, football, netball and has competed internationally in Belgium in gymnastics.
