Promising young talent Olivia Whitehead made the short trip from York Valkyrie to sign for the Rhinos ahead of the 2024 season.

Utilised across the Leeds back line in her first year at the club, Whitehead amassed 19 appearances, 11 tries and nine goals in all competitions. She mostly played on the wing, but also featured at full back on a handful of occasions, notably scoring seven combined tries across consecutive games against Barrow and Featherstone. She also played in every round of the Challenge Cup that year and appeared in her first Cup major final as she ran out at Wembley.

Whitehead was one of the Rhinos' everpresent players in 2025 as the winger played all 18 games across the league and cup competitions. Continuing as a mainstay on the wing, she scored seven times over the course of the year. 

Whitehead grew up in South Kirkby, where she developed a passion for football. Throughout her junior career, she played for Harrogate Town, Leeds United and Sheffield United Women's development teams, and also earned an offer for a scholarship in the USA.

She committed to Rugby League instead, signing for Wakefield Trinity's junior Women's team, before making the step up to the first team. She made the mid-season move to York during the 2021 season, where she scored nine tries and 29 goals in 20 games.

Alongside her rugby, she is studying for a degree in Physical Education at Leeds Beckett University. She is currently part of the England Knights and DISE programme alongside Rhinos players Caitlin Casey and Bella Sykes.
