Forward Zoe Hornby earned her place with the Rhinos after a successful trial and made her debut against York in 2021.
Her playing career covers both Rugby League and Union in the North East. She has played for Cramlington Rockets and Whitley Bay Barbarians alongside current team mate Orla McCallion. In Union she has played for Tynedale/Mopeth, Novocastrians and has represented her county Northumberland.
A strong first season at the Rhinos saw her score three tries in eleven games, plus she capped off the year with an appearance in her first final for the club as Lois Forsell's side ran out against St Helens in the Grand Final.
She continued to grow under Forsell and became a regular at loose forward in 2022. Starting with the Challenge Cup, Hornby only missed one game and was the sole Leeds scorer in the Final defeat to Saints at Elland Road, and in the league she only missed one game on the way to lifting her first Grand Final trophy. Adding ten tries too, she earned a place in England's World Cup squad and made her international debut off the bench in a 54-4 win over Canada.
Moved into prop for 2023, Hornby fought back from an early season injury to score seven times in 11 games, as well as walk out at Wembley in the Women's Challenge Cup Final. She ended her season with her second England cap too as she came off the bench against Wales in a 60-0 win at Headingley.
2024 was the forward's last season at the club as she made the decision in July to take a step back from her Rugby League career to focus on her role with Newcastle Falcons Foundation. In all she made 45 appearances for the club across four years and recorded a total of 29 tries.
