Orla made her Rhinos debut while still part of the club's Academy in 2019 and was then elevated to the first team squad, although she had to wait over a year to play again after the Women's competition was cancelled due to Covid. She started the first game of the 2021 season against York and then earned a regular spot in Forsell's squad, including starting in the Challenge Cup semi final against St Helens. By the end of the season, she had only missed one game, plus she also scored three tries at bothloose forward and hooker. She also appeared in her first final as Leeds were defeated by St Helens in the Grand Final.
2022 saw McCallion feature nine times across both the Women's Super League and Challenge Cup competitions, including in the Challenge Cup Final against St Helens. Her sole try of the year also came in the 40-0 Cup win over Warrington.
In 2023, the former Whitley Bay Barbarians player was sidelined during the entire season after a shin operation for compartment syndrome, but made a welcome return in 2024 in the Nines Tournament. In July, she announced her departure from the club, having made 22 appearances.
Although born in Leeds, she later moved to the North East where she began playing rugby for Percy Park Rugby Club before starting Rugby League with Whitley Bay Barbarians. She continued her Rugby Union with Mopeth, Rockcliff, Loughborough Lightning, Darlington Mowden Park and Durham Sharks.
She attended John Spence Community High School before attending Loughborough College and is currently studying Primary Education at Northumbria University.
At international level, Orla has represented England TDG U18s against Scotland and between 2015 and 2018 played for England at Touch Rugby at Under-18 level.
Her dad Seamus played rugby league and won a Challenge Cup with Halifax in 1987 and also represented Ireland. He is a physiotherapist and was part of the Rhinos backroom staff that won the Challenge Cup in 1999. Her mum, Lesley, played at international level for England and European Select squads.
