Coming out of local Leeds side Milford ARLFC, full back/winger Kyden Frater was a major factor in helping the club lift the Academy Grand Final trophy in 2022 with a golden point extra time try.
Inspired by his dad, who played rugby previously, Frater scored a try in his first game for Milford and in 2011, won player of the year. He signed for the Rhinos' scholarship in 2020 but spent the season off the field due to the Covid pandemic. He returned in 2021 and featured at half back against Hull KR and Bradford Bulls for Mark Butterill's side.
Progressing into the Academy in 2022, little did he know that he would score the most crucial try of the season; the match-winner in the Academy Grand Final. A year later, despite spending time on the sideline through injury, his try-scoring record continued with eight in four Academy matches, plus he featured twice for the Reserves against Wigan on the road.
Frater is currently applying his trade in building off the rugby field.
