Debut: Vs Leigh Leopards (A) 07/08/2025
Honours:
Leeds Rhinos announced the signing of 31-year-old outside back Chris Hankinson from Salford Red Devils for the remainder of the 2025 Betfred Super League season to bolster their cover for outside backs, after injuries to Ethan Clark-Wood and Alfie Edgell.
Within the week he joined the club, Hankinson made his club debut in the Rhinos' 22-14 win against Leigh Leopards at Leigh Sports Village as he started on the wing alongside Ash Handley, and he went on to play eight times in blue and amber. After kicking his first Leeds goal against Castleford in round 22, he scored tries in back to back games against Wigan and St Helens in the Play Off eliminator - the latter in vain as the Rhinos had their Grand Final hopes ended by Saints.
Hankinson started his junior career at Ashton Bears before signing for Leigh in 2014 and playing two seasons for the club with a loan spell at Barrow Raiders in 2015. He continued his development at Swinton Lions before earning to a move to his home town club, Wigan, in 2018. He had loan spells back at Swinton and London Broncos before moving to Toulouse Olympique in 2022 and helped the French club secure promotion to Super League. Following relegation, he returned to England with Featherstone and earned another chance in Super League this season with Salford, where he played 35 times, scoring eight tries and accumulating 70 points.
In total (until August 2025) he played 136 career games and scored 75 tries and 208 goals for a career total so far of 1,075 points.
