Tasha was ruled out for the whole of 2018 through injury but returned to full training in 2019 and has secured a regular starting role for the first team.  At home at half back or hooker she has started the season at hooker and went on to appear in every game, including the Challenge Cup and Grand Final. She also added seven tries. She tackles above her weight and is a great character to have in the squad.

In 2021, she played at hooker and also on the wing, scoring an important try to help the Rhinos beat York in the Women's Super League semi finals, plus she also appeared on the edge in the Grand Final that year.

2022 saw Gaines feature ten times across all competitions, including every Challenge Cup game on the way to the Final at Elland Road. In 2023, she backed her previous season up with eleven games, four tries and two goals.
