DEBUT:
Speedy outside back Marcus Qareqare was an exciting capture for the Rhinos after he joined the club from Lock Lane at the age of 14.
The centre was one of five players from the Castleford club to join Mark Butterill's Under-16s side in 2022 and after scoring three times in four games in his first season, his eye for try-scoring came in 2023 when he finished the year as the Scholarship's top try scorer with seven scores in six games.
He accepted his first professional contract with the club to move into the Under-18s Academy for the 2024 season and mainly featured at centre as he scored three tries in nine games. He increased his tally to 12 tries under Chev Walker in 2025 as the Rhinos competed with Warrington Wolves at the top of the table all season. Despite missing the start of the Academy campaign through injury suffered whilst playing for the Reserves against Leigh, Qareqare marked his return with a hat trick at AMT Headingley and went on to score tries against Bradford, Warrington, Leigh, Hull FC and one in the semi final win over St Helens. He featured in the Grand Final outing but the Rhinos fell short against the Wolves.
Six tries in the Reserves competition too saw Qareqare aide the club to a first-placed finish, but he was unlucky to miss out on a spot in the Grand Final win over Warrington.
In June 2024, Qareqare was one the key young players who committed their long-term future to the Rhinos as he agreed a four-year deal that runs until 2027. He is part of the transition group that is involved with Brad Arthur's first team squad in 2026.
