DEBUT: Vs Widnes Vikings (A) 07/02/2026

Half back George Brown is a rising star to watch out for in the future, after progressing through the club's Academy to be part of Brad Arthur's group of transition players in 2026.

Coming through the junior ranks at Dewsbury Celtic, Brown was selected for a two-year Rhinos Scholarship ahead of the 2022 season and played six times. After featuring in a high-scoring 52-16 away win over Hull KR, he was a try scorer against Newcastle Thunder as the young Rhinos secured a 62-4 result. A year later, he started in the halves in Under-16s games against Hull KR, Bradford, St Helens and Huddersfield - scoring a hat trick against the Bulls at Odsal.

Opting to play for Yorkshire Rugby Union during the 2023/24 season instead of initially taking up the opportunity of an Academy contract with the Rhinos, Brown was lured back to Leeds after completing the Rugby Union season and hit the ground running as part of Tony Smith's Under-18s Academy side. Four tries on his Academy debut against Wakefield saw Brown go on to finish the season as the Rhinos' top try scorer (7 tries), plus he added one try in four games for the Reserves that year too. His potential didn't go unnoticed as he was part of an extended group of 15 players who agreed long-term deals with the club - Brown agreeing a four year contract to keep him at the Rhinos until 2027.

2025 was the half-back's breakout year, starting with scoring the match-winning try on Boxing Day as the Rhinos overcame Wakefield 18-16 in the Festive Challenge. Playing across both the Under-18s and Reserves competitions during the season, he was one of the standout players in the Under-18s with ten tries in 13 games as Chev Walker's side reached the Grand Final for the first time since 2022. For the Reserves, he was the side's joint-top try scorer with seven tries in eight games - one of which was the match-winning try against Warrington in the Grand Final as the Rhinos were crowned Reserves Champions for the first time. He capped off the season with Yorkshire Academy honours too in that year's Academy Origin.

Ahead of the 2026 season, Brown is part of a group of nine transition players who will continue their development training with the first team squad on a weekly basis.
