Outside back Riley Sunderland joined the Rhinos Scholarship team halfway through the 2022 campaign. Under Mark Butterill, he played one game against Hull KR and was one of 12 players to sign new deals at the end of the season to progress into the Academy in 2023.
Sunderland first got into Rugby League after he used to kick the ball around with his dad when he was younger. Inspired further by his friends to take up playing, he played for Siddal and his proudest moment with the club was winning the division one title.
His favourite player is South Sydney Rabbitohs Grand Final winner Sam Burgess and his biggest influence is his dad because he encourages him.
Outside of rugby, Sunderland likes mountain biking and he currently studies at Trinity Academy in Halifax.
