Half back Jack Purtill joined the Rhinos Scholarship midway through the 2022 season but quickly earned recognition from the Academy staff.

Having played three times for Scholars, including a try-scoring appearance against Castleford, he was one of 12 players who were offered Academy contracts for 2023. During his debut academy season, he made four appearances - three as a starter - and scored twice against London in a 64-4 win.

Purtill started playing the sport at Leigh Miners Rangers when he was four years-old and during his time at the club, he lifted the Lancashire Cup in 2019 and 2021. He is the son of current Hull FC assistant coach and former England Knights head coach Kieron Purtill and remembers his dad coaching Huddersfield Giants to win the League Leaders’ Shield in 2013.

Purtill attended St Mary’s Catholic High School.
