Shannon is often utilised as an impact player off the bench she is a strong runner, a great asset in her position in the middle of the park.
In 2019, she had an excellent season as she scored four tries in 18 appearances - one try coming in the Challenge Cup semi-final win over St Helens. She went on to appear in the Cup Final and secure her second winners medal, but missed out on the Grand Final win over Castleford.
Despite missing the whole 2021 season through injury, she made a try-scoring return to the Leeds team in 2022 as she crossed the whitewash in a 38-8 Cup win over Huddersfield. Out of her 11 appearances, she made 10 of them off the bench. As the season approached its climax, she came off the bench in the 14-6 semi-final win over St Helens before featuring again to help the Rhinos to Grand Final victory, despite picking up an injury.
Lacey's recovery extended into 2023 and 2024 as she missed both seasons, although she played an important role supporting the team from the sidelines.
The former Leeds West Academy pupil previously played for Stanningley, where she won the Championship and League in 2017. She also represented Yorkshire aged 16 in 2016.
She credits her teacher, Mrs Bishop West, as inspiring her to start playing rugby and whilst at school she also worked with her current team mate Lois Forsell, who coached her as part her role with Leeds Rhinos Foundation. Lacey is now helping to promote and develop the women's game herself and is working alongside Forsell in the Foundation as a development coach.
