Leeds Rhinos Women made it two wins from two after holding Wigan Warriors scoreless in the second half at Orrell as they score two tries in each half to secure victory.

The Rhinos opened the scoring after eight minutes when skipper Lois Forsell crossed for the opening try of the game, converted by Rhiannon Marshall.

Wigan levelled the score when they pounced on an error from the visitors. The home side attacked down field and the cross field kick on the last tackle was collected by Joanie Aspin to score. Winger Michelle Davis added the conversion to level the game after 14 minutes.

New signing Australian Courtney Hill marked her debut for the Rhinos with a try in spectacular fashion. She picked the ball up twenty metres from her own line and raced clear to score a long range effort under the posts. Marshall added the conversion to give her side a 12-6 lead with 20 minutes to go until half time.

Once again, Wigan levelled the game as they punished an error from the visitors. Vanessa Temple set up the position for the score before Davis went over and converted her own try to level the game.

Davis edged her side in front for the first time with eight minutes to go before half time from a penalty and the sides were locked in a tight battle at 14-12.

Leeds got their second half off to a flying start with an early try from Shannon Lacey but Marshall could not add the conversion so the Rhinos held a narrow 14-16 lead.

The Rhinos went further ahead just ten minutes into the second half when Charlotte Booth finished brilliantly for her second try in two games with an arcing run to touch down. Marshall missed the conversion but the Rhinos now led by six points at 14-20.

Wigan threw plenty at the Rhinos in the remainder of the second half but the Rhinos, just as they had done at Bradford a fortnight before in their opening game, stood resolute in defence to keep the Warriors out and secure victory.
