Leeds Rhinos Women v York City Knights Ladies

Leeds Rhinos Women’s latest game had to abandoned just prior to half time when Sophie Robinson suffered a broken leg in the process of scoring her hat trick try to put Adam Cuthbertson’s side 30-0 at the Sportspark Weetwood.

Leeds were leading 30-0 at the time, with a decision to be made in the coming days over whether the match will be replayed.

More importantly, Robinson was sufficiently cheerful to tweet her thanks from hospital for the many messages she had received from concerned supporters – although she confirmed that an operation is likely to cause a long lay-off. The Rhinos looked to continue their winning ways following their emphatic Challenge Cup Final victory just over a week ago, and looked on course to do so as a Sophie Nuttall and Sophie Robinson double, as well as efforts from Hanna Butcher and Charlotte Booth raced the Rhinos into a 26-0 lead.

The game had to be abandoned soon after though as Robinson suffered a game-ending leg injury.

The injury occurred just prior to half-time, but with the player unable to move from the in-goal area the referee deemed that the game was to be abandoned.
