Leeds Rhinos U16s produced a strong performance to secure a 52-0 victory over Bradford Bulls at Emerald in their penultimate game of the season.

With many of the young players looking to impress as they complete their second and final year in the Scholarship, they enjoyed their night on the biggest stage.

The home side got off to a fast start with Luca Atkinson spinning out of the tackle before crashing over for the opening try after seven minutes. Kai Morgan added the conversion to make it 6-0.

Leeds kept the pressure up on Bradford as they controlled possession and they crossed for a second try after 18 minutes when Coby Nichol went over. In the next set full back Alfie Edgell crossed for the home side’s third try. Both conversion attempts were missed and the Rhinos held a 14-0 lead at half time.

The home side kept up the pressure after the break and Welsh U16 international Ben Mayhew came off the bench to score, which was converted by Morgan after 43 minutes.

Six minutes later second row Levi Edwards maintained his impressive form this season as he got to a high kick first and went over for the score. Mackenzie Turner took over the kicking duties and added the conversion.

Hooker Jonah Parsons set up the next try with a break in midfield before finding Atkinson for his second try of the game and then Parsons got a well deserved score just past the hour mark. Turner converted both tries to make it 38-0.

Leeds were in control now as they soon crossed for two more tries in quick succession. Second row Joe Gibbons was next to score following a break.

Edgell then got his second try of the night before winger Turner found himself in space to dive over in the corner for the final try and make the final score 52-0.
