Sam Walters

Sam Walters signed for the club at the start of the 2019 academy season from Widnes Vikings. The six foot five forward, who made the move with Jarrod O’Connor, is formidable running at the line and also possesses an offload game that releases players down the field. Walters started at Halton Farnworth Hornets and was soon on Widnes’ scholarship books. An impact player, Walters gained a reputation with his size and ability and was soon part of the Vikings academy as part of a ten man group.

Last season, Walters was selected for Luke Robinson’s England Academy squad that beat Australian Schoolboys 2-0 in a historic test series win. He will join seven of those team mates (Tom Holroyd, Corey Johnson, Callum McLelland, Harry Newman, Muizz Mustapha, Loui McConnell and Owen Trout) in the Rhinos Academy for the season ahead.
