Half back Oli Field was picked up by Leeds scouts from Wetherby Bulldogs and was named the Under-19s captain for the 2021 season.
Joining the Bulldogs’ Under-8s team, Field won both the Leeds and District Cup between 2016 and 2018 and BARLA Yorkshire Cup in 2017 and 2018 before being picked up for the Rhinos, where he played six times and scored three tries in 2019. He was also called up for the England Youth squad that year, beating Wales Youth 38-16 at Llanelli.
Starting as a half back for Chev Walker in the Under-19s, after a year off the field due to Covid, Field came back and transitioned into the loose forward as well as being named captain by his team mates. Positive performances against London, Castleford and Newcastle, plus two tries against Thunder, showed Field’s qualities on the field and a loan spell at Batley Bulldogs will support his development.
The half back is following his dad Jamie Field in playing at Leeds – with his father wearing blue and amber from 1995 to 1997 before moving on to feature for Wakefield Trinity and Featherstone Rovers. His dad is Oli’s biggest inspiration and he aims to replicate what Jamie did and more.
