Amy Johnson enjoyed a strong first season with the Rhinos in the forward pack. She made a try scoring debut against her former club, Bradford Bulls, on the opening day of the season and went on to make 15 starts for the first team.
She quickly tied down the loose forward shirt and had a great start to life at the club. A strong running forward and tackler, she continued to improve throughout 2018 and earned an England call up on the back off it.
Before joining the Rhinos, Johnson played for Bradford Bulls and Stanningley, where she was part of the Championship and National Cup winning squad in 2017. She also played Rugby Union and represented Yorkshire Junior Ladies and the North of England from the age of 12 to 21.
During her first season she played across the forward pack at loose forward and prop and has been awarded the number 13 shirt for the 2019 season.
Her impact of the Rhinos squad was recognised by the England coaches and she was rewarded with a place in the national squad for their game against France at the end of the 2018 campaign.
The Cheshire born player attended Weaverham High and Sheffield Hallam University. Her full time job is a business development manager.
