Australian Brett Delaney originally joined the Rhinos as a centre from Gold Coast Titans but it is his never-say-die attitude in the forwards that made him a cult hero with Rhinos fans.

One of the club's longest ever serving overseas players, Delaney spent nine years at the Rhinos, winning three Grand Finals, two Challenge Cups, a World Title and a League Leaders' Shield. The 32-year-old is seventh in the all-time list of overseas players to have appeared for Leeds with 213 appearances since arriving at Emerald Headingley, scoring 27 tries and appearing in 13 Finals in nine seasons at the club.

Delaney started his career in the NRL, scoring on debut for Parramatta against St George Illawarra in 2005. After two years, he moved the newly-formed Gold Coast Titans, where he was ever present in their 2009 campaign, reaching the Play Offs for the first time.

He moved to Super League in 2010, playing at centre and in the back row for the Rhinos. In his first season, Delaney scored 10 tries in 30 appearances, notably touching down in his debut game against Crusaders. His link up with best mate Ryan Bailey as ‘The Bash Brothers’ epitomised the brotherhood within the Rhinos camp during an illustrious period in the club’s history and Delaney played his part in adding to the club's success; starting against St Helens as Leeds claimed their fifth Super League title in 2011.

He became a Super League and World Champion in 2012, starting in both games, before adding the Challenge Cup to his accolades two years later. Spells on the sideline in 2015 broke up the back rower's season but 'frog' was there for the major finals, scoring in the Challenge Cup win over Hull KR and helping complete the Treble against Wigan at Old Trafford.

At the end of 2018, Delaney departed the club to join Featherstone Rovers for 2019 but after suffering a facial injury while representing Leeds in July 2018, the injury flared-up again when the Rovers hosted Halifax in a pre season friendly. He made the immediate decision to retire, joining Leeds Rhinos Foundation, who he previously volunteered his time off with during his time at the Rhinos, working with the Onside project.
