Originally from Huddersfield, Farrell was a mainstay of Gary Hetherington’s Sheffield Eagle side and it was no surprise when Hetherington wanted to add some steel to the Rhinos squad when he arrived at Headingley that Farrell was one of the first players to head up the M1. An imposing forward, he never took a backward step in his 146 appearances, scoring 23 tries and winning the Challenge Cup in 1999.
