Young centre Harry Taylor grabbed a hat trick as the Rhinos Reserves ran in 13 tries to defeat London Broncos at Stanningley.
Reserves coach Tony Smith fielded a side that included first team squad members like Corey Johnson and Tom Nicholson-Watton alongside the next generation of stars in Joe Diskin, Jacob Stead and Presley Cassell, who all stepped up to Reserve level.
The visitors made the most of some early pressure following a penalty near the Rhinos line and crossed for the opening try through centre Daniel Hoyes, converted by Jeson Binks.
Leeds put a scrappy start to the game behind them with a nice piece of skill from full back Shane Tuohey. He took on the Broncos defence, dummied before popping up a pass up to centre Harry Taylor to score. Jack Smith was unable to add the conversion.
The Rhinos took the lead when Toby Warren came crashing onto a short pass near the posts to go over. Smith was on target to make it 10-0.
The home side were now dominant now and Tuohey added two more tries before the break. The first was from good support play but the second was a fantastic solo effort. It came on the back of a big run and quick play the ball from Cassell with his first touch. Tuohey then arced around the outside of the defence to score. Smith converted the first try to make the half time score 20-6 to Leeds.
The second half was almost entirely one way traffic as the Rhinos stepped up a gear after the break. Leeds crossed after just three minutes when Johnson unselfishly passed to Jack Smith with the line in front of him. Smith converted his own try.
Fergie McCormack then put Jacob Stead over for a try with Stead’s first touch off the bench, courtesy of a well timed pass near the line before Dylan Proud finished off Leeds' best try of the game. Ben Littlewood and Fergie McCormack combined in midfield, before Johnson took the offload from McCormack and he then threw a wide cut out pass to beat two defenders and put the winger away.
Joe Diskin was next to get on the score sheet, supporting the run by Johnson to score with his first touch with dad Matt, the Rhinos Grand Final winning hooker, watching on. Taylor scored two quick fire tries to complete his hat trick, the first from a kick by Johnson and the second from smart play by Diskin.
Johnson got a well deserved try as he stretched out an arm from close range with winger Josh Gillespie marking his return to the side with a try as good hands put him in space out wide.
Corey Johnson scored his second with the final play of the game, Smith kicking the goal to round the final score up at 70-10.
