‘Sock it to MND’ Campaign launched in support of Kevin Sinfield’s 7 In 7 Grand Finale
OXEN Sports is proud to launch Sock It To MND, a new fundraising and MND awareness campaign bringing athletes, clubs and supporters together from across the sporting world to show their support for the fight against Motor Neurone Disease.
At the heart of the campaign is a specially designed limited-edition MND sock, created to provide a simple, visible way for people to stand alongside Sir Kevin Sinfield as he prepares to take on the latest chapter of his extraordinary fundraising journey.
Just 7,777 pairs of the socks will be made available, with 100% of profits donated to the fight against MND and Kevin’s 7 in 7 Grand Finale challenge.
Beginning on Sunday 27 September, Kevin will complete an ultra marathon every day for seven consecutive days, starting from Hull KR’s Sewell Group Craven Park, with the challenge culminating at Old Trafford on Saturday 3 October, the day of the Betfred Super League Grand Final.
The challenge continues an incredible fundraising journey inspired by Kevin’s great friend and former Leeds Rhinos teammate Rob Burrow.
Kevin and Rob spent 15 seasons playing alongside each other as part of one of rugby league’s greatest teams, sharing 15 major trophies. Following Rob’s diagnosis with MND in December 2019, Kevin has undertaken a series of remarkable endurance challenges which have raised more than £11 million for MND charities and helped transform awareness of the disease.
The Sock It To MND campaign is designed to take that message even further.
OXEN is asking athletes, supporters, clubs and organisations throughout the UK, Australia, New Zealand and beyond to wear the socks and share a photo or video across social media using #Sockit, creating a highly visible show of support around Kevin's challenge and the wider MND community.
OXEN Sports CEO Lee Jenkinson said: “What Kevin has done for the MND community, inspired by his friendship with Rob, has gone so far beyond sport. It is an incredible example of loyalty, determination and using your platform to inspire others.
“The MND Association always challenge us to come up with new ideas to help continue the fight each year, so we wanted to create something that makes it really easy for people to show that they are standing alongside Kevin and everyone affected by MND. A pair of socks might be a simple thing, but if we can get thousands of people wearing them, sharing them and talking about why they are wearing them, that collective support can be incredibly powerful.
“There are only 7,777 pairs available and every pair helps raise money for an incredibly important cause. If you have been inspired by Kevin and Rob’s story, we want everyone to get involved and help us Sock It To MND.”
The campaign will bring together personalities and organisations from across sport, with supporters encouraged not only to wear the socks on social media but to make them visible at matches, training sessions, events and public appearances throughout the build-up to and during the 7 in 7 Grand Finale.
The dedicated www.sock-it.shop campaign hub will track progress towards selling all 7,777 pairs, showcase supporters getting behind the campaign and provide links for customers around the world to purchase their socks.
Let’s Sock It To MND.
