O’Neill moves to Hull FC

Leeds Rhinos have confirmed that forward Ethan O’Neill has re-joined Hull FC on a permanent basis.

O’Neill joined the Rhinos this season from Leigh Leopards initially on an initial two year deal with an option for a further year. Having made his debut in the Challenge Cup against Widnes Vikings, he retained his place in the side for the opening day of the Super League season against the Leopards. However, he has not featured since Round 5 for the Rhinos and has been on loan at Hull FC last month. 

Sporting Director Ian Blease said, “On behalf of everyone at the Rhinos, I would like to thank Ethan for his contribution to the group this season. He has been a complete professional who has done everything that has been asked of him by the coaching staff. Unfortunately, some times in sport things don’t work out how everyone planned and we understand Ethan’s desire to secure his long term future. He leaves with our very best wishes.”

Head Coach Brad Arthur added, “Ethan was here on day one of pre-season and, as with all our players who are not in the team at the weekend, he has contributed in training to making sure the team are prepared in the best possible manner for Super League each week. He has been unfortunate that the fitness of the squad and the consistent emergence of players in his position has limited his opportunities but I am sure he will make the most of his chance with Hull FC.”
