Getting to know: St Helens
Two weeks on from their defeat at the hands of Castleford, St Helens are back on the road as they head to AMT Headingley looking to get back to winning ways against Leeds Rhinos in a top of the table clash, kick off 8pm.
Here's a closer look at the Saints:
Key Playmakers
Daryl Clark
Club Apps: 66 | Tries: 18 | Career Apps: 420 | England Apps: 14
Clark is one of the players benefiting from Paul Rowley's system as the hooker is having one of his best seasons to date.
Rising to fame at Castleford before moving to Warrington and then St Helens, his 2026 campaign is putting Clark back in the conversation for an England spot as he leads the competition's hookers in metres, tackle breaks, line breaks and offloads. Added to that, he has two tries to his name this campaign and can add to that tally against the Rhinos, who he has beaten 21 times in his career so far.
David Klemmer
Club Apps: 16 | Tries: 2 | NRL Apps: 260 | Australia Caps: 19
Saints acquired experience that spanned NRL, State of Origin and Australia apps when prop David Klemmer made the change to Super League from 2026.
A breakthrough star as part of Canterbury's hard-hitting pack of the 2010s that made the Grand Final, he became a New South Wales representative shortly after as he featured 14 times and won two series with the Blues. He was also capped for his country between 2014 and 2019, playing 19 times and lifting the World Cup in 2017 against England. Domestically, he has over 260 NRL games for the Bulldogs, Newcastle Knights, Wests Tigers and St George Dragons before moving to the UK, where he has been ever-present for Saints.
Tristan Sailor
Club Apps: 48 | Tries: 26 | NRL Apps: 21
Another player who is having an improved 2026, Sailor looks to have solidified his place in the full back spot of Rowley's system.
Only Catalans’ Charlie Staines has more carries and metres than the former Brisbane and St George player, plus Rowley’s appointment also has added an offload game to Sailor’s arsenal as he leads the league with 23 offloads this season. He is the only Saints player to play every minute in Super League in 2026 and in the final year of his contract at the club, has a total of 26 tries and 16 goals in red and white.
