Leeds Rhinos Women 60 Featherstone Rovers Ladies 6
By Sam Brocksom
Four tries from Connie Boyd helped Leeds Rhinos Women to a 60-6 win over Featherstone Rovers Women, in what was their first league win of the season.
After defeat to Wigan Warriors last time out, the Rhinos responded in spectacular fashion, scoring 11 tries to rack up a huge scoreline against their West Yorkshire neighbours.
Lois Forsell made three changes to the side from last week, with Nicole Kennedy, Lucy Murray and Lois Naidole dropping out in place of Ruby Walker, Pauliane Walambu and Frankie Blakey
Boyd scored three of her four in the opening half, converting from similar opportunities each time. Quick play down the left edge caused an overlap for the centre to exploit, which she did on each occasion.
Ruby Enright was in support of a Keara Bennett break to dot down under the sticks, before a Shannon Brown crash ball and a Ruby Bruce dummy-half scoot also allowed Leeds to score.
With a half-time lead of 32-0, the Rhinos were in complete control, however discipline let them down on numerous occasions. Hat-trick hero Boyd was sent to the sin-bin for a dangerous tackle on Tilly Churm, before she returned to score her fourth of the afternoon.
Ebony Stead crossed for her seventh and eighth tries of the season, whilst Liv Whitehead also dotted down, highlighting Leeds' fortunes when they utilised the flanks.
Rhinos will be hoping for a more disciplined showing next time out, with the home side having far more opportunities to put points on the board, but lapses in concentration stopped them from doing that.
