Brad Arthur named Betfred Super League Coach of the Month for April
Brad Arthur named Betfred Super League Coach of the Month for April Brad Arthur has been named as the Betfred Super League Coach of the Month for April after keeping Leeds Rhinos’ winning streak going to leave them sitting top of the Super League table.
With voting based on Rounds 7 to 10, the Rhinos had a compelling month filled with tense battles against local rivals. Arthur’s team kicked off the month with the West Yorkshire Derby which saw them take on Bradford Bulls for the first time since their return to the Super League this season. Despite a lead for the Bulls at the break after Waqa Blake and Connor Wynne went over, James McDonnell replied for the Rhinos in between the hosts’ two scores to minimise the damage.
The Rhinos came out all guns blazing into the second 40 as Jack Bird, Ash Handley and Cooper Jenkins made it past the Bulls’ strong defence to reclaim the win and walk away with a Rivals Round success.
The following round saw Arthur’s side take on Huddersfield Giants under the Friday Night Lights. The Rhinos ran riot against the Giants putting up 56 points on the locals which included Brodie Croft’s first ever hat-trick of his senior career.
In Round 9, Leeds returned to AMT Headingley where they had yet another dominant 80 minutes against Catalans Dragons. Leading 16-0 at the break, the Rhinos came back even stronger in the second half as Danny Levi, Jenkins and Croft all crossed in the space of seven minutes to see them take home victory at 46-4.
Leeds capped off their winning month with another victory against Wakefield Trinity in what was an eventful game for Maika Sivo. Despite being up against it with three sin-binned players, the Rhinos never relented control and Sivo rounded out his tumultuous game with his fourth Super League hat-trick of the season.
One member of the voting panel said: “Leeds have been kept healthy which is an achievement in itself in a league getting to grips with new laws and a strenuous game, and won their matches with a swagger and a strut. “Jake Connor is running games, Lachie Miller and Brodie Croft are immense in attack while the three quarters and pack have delivered tries and go-forward respectively.”
The voting panel for Betfred Coach of the Month is made up of selected members of the Rugby League media.
