2025 Season Review: July-August

ABC

On the run up to the New Year, here's a look back at the events of July and August:

JULY

July was kick-started by the Rhinos beating league leaders Hull KR at Sewell Group Craven Park. The result was only the Robins' second loss of the entire season, as a length of the field effort from Lachie Miller decided a closely fought affair.

A second defeat to Saints in an attritional 6-0 final score was a stumbling block in the middle of the month, but Salford were seen off by three tries from Alfie Edgell as Presley Cassell made his club debut in the 42-6 result.

Disappointingly, a late drop goal from Mason Lino broke Leeds hearts at Wakefield as Trinity kept their hopes of a Play Off place alive at a sold out DIY Kitchens Stadium.

A mixed month for Leeds Rhinos Women saw them beat Huddersfield Giants but lose out to St Helens and Wigan Warriors, who were locked in as the top two sides in the competition. The loss to Saints came in the dying moments as a touchline conversion from Faye Gaskin stole the league points for the Red Vee.

AUGUST

For the second time in 2025, the Rhinos went unbeaten for a whole month in August as they confirmed a home Play Off place with four consecutive wins.

Brodie Croft, Sam Lisone, James Bentley and Lachie Miller all saw off the challenge of Leigh Leopards as Leeds in a closer 22-14 final score, but a clash with Castleford Tigers a week later was more straightforward. In the wake of Danny McGuire's departure as head coach, Brad Arthur's side dominated the Tigers in a 64-6 result - Ash Handley, Brodie Croft and Ryan Hall scoring two tries each.

Buoyed by their form, the Rhinos claimed the major scalp of Hull KR for the second time in 2025. Wiping away memories of their home loss to the Robins back in April, the Rhinos made sure to finish the job this time at AMT Headingley thanks to tries from Jake Connor, Lachie Miller, Harry Newman and Presley Cassell.

To round out the month, a trip to Hull ended in a landslide victory for Leeds as six tries from Ryan Hall, Kallum Watkins, Jake Connor, Morgan Gannon, Brodie Croft and James McDonnell completed a 34-0 final score to keep the club in third place in Super League table.

August was also filled with the huge news that Brad Arthur had ended speculation about his future by committing to a rolling contract to keep him at the club for years to come. More signing news also brought Chris Hankinson and Joe Shorrocks to the club from Salford to bolster the club's ranks ahead of the Play Offs.

Leeds Rhinos Women faced a straightforward run in for the end of their season as they walked out comfortable victors over Barrow and Leigh before their away clash against Warrington was forfeited by the Wolves.
