2025 Season Review: May-June
As we prepare to wave goodbye to 2025 and welcome in 2026, we're running back all the big events that took place around the club over the last twelve months.
On the run up to the New Year, here's a look back at the events of May and June:
MAY
May was one of the most successful months of the Rhinos' season as Brad Arthur's side won all four league fixtures against St Helens, Hull FC, Castleford and Wakefield to begin their ascent up the league standings.
Off the back of losing to Hull KR, Leeds headed up to Newcastle for Magic Weekend as they faced a stern test in St Helens. The two sides hadn't met at Magic before 2025, and a confident performance from Leeds saw them walk out 17-4 victors thanks to tries from Lachie Miller, Riley Lumb and Morgan Gannon.
Drama back at AMT Headingley in round 12 saw Hull FC and the Rhinos play out one of the games of the season as Leeds snuck a 18-16 result in the dying minutes. Having trailed for most of the game, the home side found a way to find a miracle try as Ryan Hall dotted down in the last minute to get Arthur's side the win.

Four second-half tries from Sam Lisone, Harry Newman and Hall continued Leeds' winning momentum as they beat Castleford 29-6, before returning to AMT Headingley to see off Wakefield Trinity in the club's annual MND Awareness game. Newman was amongst the try scorers, along with Riley Lumb and Jake Connor, but the Rhinos had to suppress a second half revival from Daryl Powell's side to finish the month unbeaten.
For Leeds Rhinos Women, May began with a tough 44-14 loss to eventual Challenge Cup winners Wigan Warriors as the Rhinos bowed out at the semi-final stage. The start of the league season also saw the side have to wait for their first win as they came away from St Helens with a 20-all draw and defeats to York and Wigan.
Elsewhere around the club, the club announced it would join Hull KR as the latest Super League team to play in Las Vegas in 2026, and that Tom Holroyd had committed to new three-year deal to keep the prop in blue and amber. The latest inductees into the Hall of Fame were also unveiled as Frank 'Bucket' Young, Bill Ramsey, Kylie Leuluai and Danny McGuire joined the growing list of club legends honoured.
JUNE
The move into the summer months saw Leeds continue their winning form.
After a break in the schedule for the Challenge Cup Final, the Rhinos were convincing on their return to action as they beat Cup Finalists Warrington Wolves 36-12 in front of a home crowd. Captain Cameron Smith led the scoring with two tries as Leeds moved up to third in the Super League table.
Saints gained revenge for their Magic loss to Leeds as they kept the Rhinos to just one try at the Totally Wicked Stadium in round 15 to bring Leeds' winning run to an end. Heading back to home soil for round 16, the Rhinos played out one of the games of the season against Leigh Leopards, which saw Leeds come out on top in a 48-30 in a high-scoring affair.
Player retention was also key for the Rhinos' future as Ryan Hall and Kallum Watkins both confirmed they were extending their stays at the club until the end of 2026.
In the Women's Super League, wins began to mount up for Lois Forsell's Leeds side as the season continued. A record-breaking 110-0 win over Warrington Wolves and 66-4 win over Barrow Raiders saw Ebony Stead score four tries in both games as the full back announced herself on the Super League scene in her first full campaign. The Women's side also joined the Men in beating Leigh by 48 points as the club rose into the top four in the table after six games.
