MATCH PREVIEW | Rhinos Reserves take on Warrington for Grand Final title

It's Grand Final week for Leeds Rhinos Reserves, who can cap off a dominant 2025 campaign as Chev Walker's side takes on Warrington Wolves at AMT Headingley on Saturday afternoon, kick off 2pm.

Both clubs are in their first Reserves final since the competition returned in 2022, and the Rhinos in particular have enjoyed their best Reserves season in the last three years as they've won 11 out of 12 games. Kicking off back in March with an eight-point win on the road against Leigh Leopards, Walker's side found results in their first four outings as Huddersfield, St Helens and Bradford all fell to the Rhinos, who quickly started to ascend the table. Despite a comeback at the University of Hull, a conversion only separated Leeds and Hull FC in round five, but the Rhinos responded by winning their next seven.

A 60-point victory over Wigan was one of the highlight results of the season for the young Rhinos, thanks to two tries from Harley Thomas, Ethan Clark-Wood, Joe Diskin and Presley Cassell. A home meeting with Warrington a fortnight later saw the side post 44 points past their final opponents, plus Wakefield, Salford and Bradford also succumbed to high scores as Leeds started to hit top gear. Hard-fought wins over Castleford and Hull KR was mixed amongst those results too as the club confirmed top spot in the Reserves table and more importantly a home Grand Final.

Alongside stellar seasons in the Academy and First Team, Presley Cassell has led the try-scoring effort for the Reserves with seven scores across the season, plus Harley Thomas, Marcus Qareqare, Zak Lloyd and Oscar Brown have also followed suit with six tries each. Jack Sinfield led the points scoring with 96 points in six games for the Reserves too, as the half back was one of several first team players to come into the Reserves fold and help the side to victory.

Saturday sees the side take on a Wolves side who finished second in the Reserves table after losses to Leeds and Hull KR during the season, and will act as a preview for the Under-18s Grand Final between the two clubs next week.

Like Leeds, Warrington made a fast start to move top of the table after five games as the Wolves saw off 2022 Reserves Grand Finalists Wakefield and 2024 Reserves Champions St Helens alongside Leigh, Bradford and Hull FC before suffering a shock one-point loss to Hull KR. The result was backed up with a loss at the hands of the Rhinos too but the Wolves were quickly back to winning ways to close the season with results against Huddersfield, Salford, Castleford, Wigan and Leigh to book their spot in a debut Reserves finale.
