Here's more on our opposition, Wigan Warriors:
2025: Does Old Trafford call again for Wigan?
In search of their third consecutive Championship title, Wigan Warriors remain the odds-on favourite to retain their crown in 2025 as Matt Peet's side prepares for a stern test against the Rhinos on Friday night.
The Warriors have retained a Championship title over three consecutive seasons only once before, dating back to between the 1989-90 and 1991-92 seasons which was part of a wider run of seven successive titles for the Wigan club. After beating Catalans in 2023 and Hull KR on 2024, the club have put themselves in a strong position for another Old Trafford appearance in 2025 as they locked up second place and a home semi-final along with the Robins.
Although they were unable to hold onto their Challenge Cup title as they were knocked out in round four by Hull FC earlier in the year, mathematically, there is the chance for the Warriors to collect two pieces of silverware in 2025. The League Leaders' Shield is still up for grabs this week, but Wigan require a Hull KR defeat and a big score against Leeds to lift the Shield for what would be a 26th time in the club's history. Focused on a potential Grand Final run, the side are in a strong spot with four consecutive wins in recent weeks and key performances across their squad.
Since Bevan French's return in round 23, the club bounced back from a 10-6 loss to Hull KR to beat Wakefield, Catalans, St Helens and Castleford to solidify second place in the table, with French joining Jai Field, Zach Eckersley and Liam Marshall in hitting peak form. Last year's top try scorer Marshall has scored seven of his 15 tries in Wigan's last four games, whilst Eckersley has complemented a strong season with five tries. Junior Nsemba continues to be a key forward as the league's second highest tackle buster, whilst Kaide Ellis' offload game and tackles have also aided the Warriors in completing another strong campaign.

Round 26 Review
Take a look at the highlights:
Key Names
Jai Field - Super League's top try scorer enters round 27 one try clear of second-placed Lewis Martin at the top of the standings, and a try against Leeds this Friday would all but confirm Field as the competition's top scorer. The full back has four tries against Leeds in his career - three of which came in the second round of the 2022 campaign - and is one of the league's in-form try scorers with six in his last five outings. He is also second to Hull KR's Joe Burgess in line breaks with 27 this season.
Kaide Ellis - A forward who's comfortable in attack and defence, Ellis is an important piece of Peet's squad and their success in the last two years. Out of the forwards in Super League, only Elliot Minchella has more attacking touches then Ellis, who is second in carries too, whilst in defence, he has the third most tackles out of any forward in the competition with 897 too (Catalans' Oli Partington leads with 924).
Bevan French - Wigan's attack starts with Bevan French as the half back returned from injury to mount the Warriors' Grand Final retention charge. After being ruled out from round 15 to round 23, he marked his return with a try against Wakefield in a 44-2 win, and still ranks sixth in the competition for try assists with 21 in Super League.
