Brad Arthur named Betfred Super League Coach of the Month for August

Brad Arthur has been named as the Betfred Super League Coach of the Month for August following a string of victories, leading Leeds Rhinos to an unbeaten month.

His side have gone from strength to strength and started August with a 14-22 victory against Leigh Leopards - making it a league double for the Rhinos. The team fought back after conceding two quick-fire tries to lead at half-time, and despite persistent pressure from the Leopards, Leeds maintained control and second half tries from James Bentley and Brodie Croft secured their win.

They continued to build momentum towards the Play-Offs in their next match away at Castleford. The game followed the announcement of Arthur’s contract extension which sees him remain in the Betfred Super League for the 2026 season.

Leeds walked away from the OneBore Stadium with a dominant 64-6 demolition of the Tigers - running in 11 tries and in turn pushing themselves up the table.

The following week, the Rhinos claimed an emphatic victory against Super League leaders Hull KR in their only home game of the month. Heading into the game, Hull KR had only conceded 37 tries in 22 rounds, but Leeds added four more in a performance that blew their opponents away.

Their fourth consecutive win came against Hull FC who failed to get on the scoreboard. A disappointing performance from the Black & Whites saw Leeds seize an opportunity and fly in with six tries, including one from Ryan Hall who was celebrating his 400th Super League appearance.

One member of the voting panel said: “Brad and staff with Jamie Langley in particular have done an outstanding job this season as a whole and Leeds’ rich form at the right time is a byproduct of that.

“Look at the impact of Lachlan Miller, Jake Connor and equally the mid-season addition of Kallum Watkins. The way they dismantled Hull KR was a masterclass – a stunning attacking and defensive display."

The voting panel for Betfred Coach of the Month is made up of selected members of the Rugby League media.
