Next Up: Catalans Dragons

Next up, the penultimate game of the regular Betfred Super League season sees Leeds Rhinos host Catalans Dragons at AMT Headingley as the Rhinos continue to push for their highest possible finish in the league table on Thursday night, kick off 8pm.
Here's your match preview for the fixture:
Opposition Overview
With two games left in their calendar, Catalans Dragons will have eyes on the future after their worst season since the club featured in the Middle 8s Qualifiers and faced relegation in 2017.
After assembling what looked on paper to be a strong lineup to venture back into the Play Off picture, the recruitment of NRL Premiership winner Luke Keary, electric wingers Tommy Makinson and Nick Cotric, and power forward Tevita Pangai Jr, Elliot Whitehead and Oliver Partington proved problematic as the side couldn't recover from three consecutive losses to start the season. By round 11, despite an upturn in results that saw them beat the Rhinos, Castleford, Salford, Huddersfield and Wakefield, Steve McNamara was released and Joel Tomkins installed as head coach to guide the club through to the end of the campaign.
Since Tomkins' appointment, the club has won twice in 13 games to sit ninth - out of range of relegation. After scoring only 18 points in the first four games under the interim head coach, five tries against Huddersfield helped the club get its first win in two months before succumbing to a six-game losing run that saw Wakefield, Warrington (twice), Hull KR, Wigan and the Giants take results off Catalans heading into the closing stages of the season. A win against Castleford came before a high-scoring 40-4 defeat to Wigan too, before the club travelled to Salford in round 25. They now look ahead to two more away games against the Rhinos (who are eying a potential second place finish) and Hull FC, who are trying to keep themselves in the Play Off picture.
Plans have already started rolling for 2026 as the Dragons have already announced the departures of 13 senior players and three new signings. Keary, Pangai Jr and Whitehead all leave after single seasons with the club, as well as Reimis Smith, Tariq Sims, Tanguy Zenon, Bayley Sironen, Sam Tomkins, Theo Fages, Paul Seguier, Arthur Romano and Fouad Yaha, whilst Wests Tigers winger Charlie Staines leads the arrivals for 2026. Iszac Fa'asuamaleaui, Zac Lipowicz and Josh Allen bolster the pack options too, but Dragons fans will be hoping for more signings in the off-season if they are to return to their previous heights.
