MATCH PREVIEW | U18s open Robins double header this Thursday

After the club's Reserves team confirmed their place in the 2025 Grand Final last weekend, Leeds Rhinos Under-18s Academy can book a home semi-final if Chev Walker's side defeat Hull KR on Thursday afternoon at AMT Headingley, kick off 5.30pm.
In the first of two games against the Robins at AMT Headingley, the Rhinos Under-18s look to set the tone for the evening as Walker's side go for their tenth win of a stellar campaign so far. Having picked up eight consecutive wins over the first four months, the young Rhinos suffered a blow when they were defeated by a late Junior Westwood drop goal that saw Warrington move back to the top of the Under-18s league table. Not swayed by the result, the side opened August with a convincing second-half performance against Leigh Leopards, and now they aim to secure results against both Hull clubs before moving into the semi-final stage of the competition.
Hat tricks for Wade White and Marcus Qareqare in the Leopards win, as well four scores for Zak Lloyd, saw the trio move level with Oscar Brown as the joint top try scorers for the Rhinos this year with ten tries each. Whilst the club has recorded some big scorelines over the course of the season so far, the tries have been shared around as Jacob Hardy (nine tries), George Brown (eight tries) and Joe Diskin (seven tries) are also close to hitting double figures, plus Lloyd and Harley Thomas are leading the points front too.

Thursday's opponents Hull KR will provide a stern challenge as the Robins look to apply pressure on St Helens and Wigan Warriors for the fourth and final semi-final spot. As third-placed Huddersfield are three points ahead of Hull KR, St Helens are the only club that Rhys Lovegrove's side can catch in the final two games of the season, meaning that the head-to-head between Saints and the Robins in the final game of the season could be a decider for who progresses into the semi finals.
A draw against the Tigers last time out saw Hull KR pick up a point at Sewell Group Craven Park, having defeated Salford a fortnight before. The Red Devils win broke a three-game losing streak for the Robins, who opened the season with four wins from five games as they beat Leigh, Wigan, Hull FC and Bradford up until the middle of May.
