Rhinos hit one million YouTube views in record time

Earlier this month, the official Leeds Rhinos YouTube channel surpassed one million views for 2025, setting a new record for the club, which has seen fans engaging with a variety of content produced by he club over the past seven months.

It’s the earliest the channel has reached the milestone since launching in June 2012, averaging 143,605 views per month and peaking at 168,856 in February. Previously, the earliest the Rhinos hit one million views was in August 2020, 2022, and 2023, but thanks to increased interest in the new-look Behind the Game feature and the introduction of new content such as club podcasts, the milestone has been reached in record time.

Match Highlights remains one of the most popular content types, with highlights from the Men's Betfred Super League and Challenge Cup matches generating 68,913 views. The most-watched clips include Ash Handley’s Testimonial Match (18,120 views) and the 16-try Challenge Cup victory over Wests Warriors (15,788). The round two win over Salford and the 14–6 away win against Hull KR also attracted strong numbers.

Wider club highlights contributed an additional 48,558 views, driven largely by the Reserves. The strong seasons from Chev Walker’s Academy and Reserves sides have boosted viewership, with particularly high numbers for Reserves games against Wigan, Hull KR, Wakefield, and Warrington. Highlights from Mark Butterill’s Scholarship side against Bradford and Wigan also surpassed 2,000 views each.

Behind the Game, filmed and produced by the team at RAM Films, gives fans an exclusive look at matchdays at AMT Headingley from the dressing room to the pitch, and the 22 episodes released so far this season have generated 98,441 total views. The dramatic round five home win over Wigan has been the standout, with more than 9,000 views, followed by the away win at Hull KR (7,026 views), Ash Handley’s Testimonial Match (6,147 views), the home win over Hull FC (5,728 views), and the MND Awareness Game against Wakefield Trinity (5,512 views).

The club's new podcast network has also played a big role in reaching the one-million milestone. Across 55 combined episodes of The Leeds Rhinos Podcast, The Knock On Effect, Box 2 in association with Best Western Hotels GB, The Leeds Rhinos Heritage Podcast and Roots to Rhinos, the podcasts have generated 67,167 views.

The flagship Leeds Rhinos Podcast, featuring game reviews and Q&A episodes, has amassed nearly 50,000 combined views, with Sporting Director Ian Blease as the most popular guest. However, the most-watched podcast episode of the year is episode one of The Knock On Effect, hosted by Jarrod O’Connor and Tom Nicholson-Watton, which has topped 3,000 views.

Brad Arthur’s press conferences, both pre- and post-match, have also become key content, generating 123,426 total views so far in 2025. His post-match comments following the July win over Hull KR led the way with 8,504 views, while his round one debrief after Wakefield drew 6,950 views. Press conferences after games against Hull KR, Wigan, Hull FC, and Castleford each surpassed 4,000 views.

Other standout content this year includes the Spirit of the Rhinos documentary (over 10,000 views since its June release) and live commentary of the Rhinos' Cup clash with Wests, which attracted over 8,000 listeners. YouTube Shorts have also performed well, led by the Reaction Challenge (8,434 views), Jake Connor’s high bomb that fooled Jai Field in January (7,744 views), and lead physio David Ferguson's intervention during Mikolaj Oledzki’s concussion against Wakefield (4,948 views).

Finally, historic content continues to perform strongly including Behind the Scenes: Player Medical (70,208 views in 2025), the Golden Decade documentary (6,710 views), and the 2015 Super League Grand Final (5,044 views).
