Everything you need to know about... Wakefield Trinity

The countdown is on for round 20 as the Betfred Super League begins to heat up with the Play Offs in sight.

Two teams vying for the Play Offs, Leeds and Wakefield, kick off the round on Thursday night as Brad Arthur's side look to closely follow Wigan and Leigh above them, whilst Trinity aim to break into the top six with victory at home.

Here's everything you need to know about our opposition, Wakefield Trinity:

2025: The comeback continues

Whilst Wakefield fans can look back at what has been a brilliant bounce-back to Super League action following relegation two years ago, Trinity's job isn't done yet as a place in the top six is still at stake.

With eight games to go in the campaign, a much-needed win over Huddersfield in round 19 made sure Daryl Powell's side closed the gap to Hull FC in the league standings as Trinity remain one point outside of the six Play Off spots. Only a draw against Leigh is keeping the black and whites in the six, as Wakefield have a better points difference compared to the black and whites but two losses to John Cartwright's side in rounds five and 18 could prove to be missed opportunities come September. Trinity are also fending off Warrington as well, who sit two points behind them.

Looking at their recent form, Powell's side has struggled to find consistency since losing out to Leeds at AMT Headingley. The 22-18 defeat at the hands of Brad Arthur's team has been one of four losses by Trinity in their last seven games, which has been broken up by a statement win over Wigan Warriors as well as Catalans Dragons on home soil. A 46-10 win over the Giants was a more convincing display as they bounced back from a loss at the hands of Hull FC, and now they look to continue their home form as they host Leeds and St Helens in the next two weeks.

Salford and Wigan await later in August before a third showdown with the Giants could set the club up for an important three final games to try and claim a Play Off place.

Round Nineteen Review

Key Names

Max Jowitt - Still Super League's leading points scorer after the last meeting with Leeds, Max Jowitt comes into this week's game with tries in his last three outings against Catalans, Hull FC and Huddersfield. The full back has three tries against Leeds in the meetings at AMT Headingley earlier this campaign and is 20 points clear of Hull KR's Arthur Mourgue, who is second in the list of Super League's points scorers.

Mason Lino - Lino's four try assists against Huddersfield equalled the tally he achieved against Salford in May as the half back continues a stellar season. He is also the leading player for try involvements in Trinity colours, and with the return of Jake Trueman to fitness, the pair will be threats across the field for the Rhinos on Thursday.

Tom Johnstone - No Trinity player has more metres or carries than the England international this campaign, who also ranks amongst the top five players for his position in the comp. He leads all Super League wingers in tackle breaks with 87 as well, and has 11 tries in all competitions too.

Jayden Myers - The former Bradford Bulls player impressed with two tries in his third appearance of the season last time out against the Giants, and he could be in place to appear against the Rhinos too. Speaking about his players performance, head coach Powell said: "He’s pretty dangerous and this will be a great experience for him. I just mentioned in there that he could have got a hat-trick too."
