100 DAYS TO GO: RUGBY LEAGUE STARS UNITE TO COUNT DOWN TO HISTORIC ENGLAND VS AUSTRALIA ASHES SERIES

England Rugby League is today marking 100 days until the start of the eagerly-anticipated ABK Beer Ashes Series against Australia, in which the two nations will go head-to-head in a three Test Match Series for the first time since 2003.

Marking the milestone with a ‘100 days to go’ London Trophy Tour were Rugby League legend Martin Offiah MBE, current England captain George Williams, star player Jack Welsby, and Aussie comedian and Rugby Football League President, Adam Hills MBE.

Beginning in Clapham - home of one of London’s largest populations of expat Aussies - and finishing at the iconic Wembley Stadium, the tour saw the Ashes Trophy travel through the capital’s streets aboard a classic London bus, giving fans and passers-by a glimpse of the 97-year-old trophy as it approached the Wembley arch.

The three-match Test Series, which gets underway at Wembley on Saturday 25 October, will then move to Everton’s new home the Hill Dickinson Stadium on November 1, and will conclude on November 8 at AMT Headingley Stadium, a legendary Ashes venue in both Rugby League and cricket. With over 100,000 tickets already sold for the eagerly anticipated Series, demand to witness the First Test at Wembley Stadium is set to continue to build through the summer.

George Williams, England captain, said: “As players, we can’t wait for the Ashes to get underway. There’s a fierce rivalry with Australia and we’re excited to test ourselves in such a famous Test Match Series.” Martin Offiah MBE, former England international and Rugby League Hall Of Fame inductee, added: “I’m so happy to see the Ashes Series return to the Rugby League calendar after such a long time. There is a rich history between these two great teams, and the upcoming Test Matches give this generation of athletes a chance to write their own chapter in the story of this famous rivalry.”

Adam Hills MBE, comedian and Rugby League president, said: “As the only Aussie here to mark the ‘100 days to go’ milestone today, I feel outnumbered, intimidated but still slightly confident! This is going to be a brilliant, close-fought Ashes Series and I’m calling on all Aussie fans to come out in force. Bring it on!”

Rhodri Jones, the Managing Director of Rugby League Commercial, said: “It’s with great pride that we’re bringing the Ashes Series back for the first time in over 20 years. We can sense the excitement in Rugby League and indeed the wider sports community, and with the second and third Tests at Everton and AMT Headingley already sold out, we’d urge fans in London and beyond to get their tickets for the historic first Test at Wembley. It’s going to be a magnificent event.”

The 2025 Ashes Series marks the first time England have faced Australia on home soil since the 2017 Rugby League World Cup Final, and the first Ashes Series since 2003, when the Kangaroos last toured the UK under the Great Britain banner. During the priority sales window, over 60,000 tickets were sold on the first day alone, a record-breaking figure for any Rugby League series launch. Both AMT Headingley and Everton Stadium are now officially sold out, while ticket sales for Wembley Stadium continue at pace, with high demand across lower-tier seating and family areas.
