What's On: Wakefield Trinity

Leeds Rhinos will continue the legacy left by Rob Burrow CBE as they continue to raise awareness and funds for the MND community with the annual MND Awareness game when the Rhinos welcome local rivals Wakefield Trinity to AMT Headingley on Saturday 31st May, kick off 4.30pm.

The game will be even more poignant as it comes 48 hours before the first anniversary of Burrow’s passing last year on 2nd June and here’s everything fans can expect if they are attending;

Stadium gates open at 1.30pm, with the Leeds Rhinos Women in action against Wigan Warriors, kick off 2pm. The Rhinos Women will wear special warm-up shirts to mark the MND Awareness fixture and will come together ahead of kick off for a minute’s applause.

Following the Rhinos Women’s fixture, supporters are encouraged to get into position for the start of the MND tributes and to hear from club legends and those most impacted by MND. Led by our stadium announcers Pete Nuttall and Matt Horton, with support by Jamie Jones-Buchanan and Barrie McDermott, the tributes will start at 3.50pm with the multi-part celebration of Rob’s life and continued legacy. 

·       The club look back on the unforgettable gameday versus Leigh that united Rugby League in Rob’s memory

·       Explore the incredible work of the MND Association and Leeds Hospitals Charity and the role Rob played in creating awareness, funds and much needed hope.

·       Revisit the emotional 745 fixture, the concept created by Ed Slater and Rob Burrow that brought together players from both codes for an epic afternoon at AMT Headingley. 

·       There will also be a look ahead to Kevin Sinfield’s next big challenge and there will be reflections on the third Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon where together, supporters Ran for Rob.

·       Hear from club legends as they share stories of Rob the player, the teammate, and the inspirational figure he still is for the next generation of Rugby League players.

The pre match build-up will conclude with a special live performance from AMT Headingley favourite, Opera Man John Innes, as players enter the field.

Fans are encouraged to join in a minute's applause for Rob Burrow CBE ahead of the game with Rob’s family delivering the match ball. 

The Rhinos Men’s team kick off against Wakefield Trinity at 4.30pm, live on BBC Two. The Rhinos will wear a unique kit for the game, with £10 from the sale of every replica shirt donated to the MND Association across England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

At half time of the game, Opera Man will return to pitch with a South Stand favourite, Volare so make sure to remain in the stands and sing along.

The face painters will also be located in the South Stand and Courtyard, so visit them to get Rob’s iconic number 7 face paint on your face.

Happy Hour means half price draught pints between 1.30pm and 2.30pm at all public bars in the stadium. Plus, there are lots of food options to enjoy, such as burgers, pizza and fish & chips. All bars and food concessions inside the stadium only accept card payments.

Post game Leeds Rhinos Gold Members can head up to the Long Bar to meet the players after the game by showing their Gold Season Membership cards, but passes can also be purchased for £5 from Leeds Rhinos Ticket Office Transfer Windows inside the ground next to the Club Shop.

Tickets are still available to purchase in all areas of the ground with prices starting from £25 for Adults, £20 for Concessions and £13 for Juniors with prices rising by £3 on matchday!
