MATCH PREVIEW | AMT Headingley hosts Rhinos and Trinity Under-18s

A return to AMT Headingley on Thursday night sees Leeds Rhinos Under-18s take on Wakefield Trinity Under-18s at the stadium as the Academy season hits the halfway mark, kick off 7pm.
No team has scored more points and conceded fewer than Chev Walker's Rhinos side in 2025 as they remain at the top of the Academy league table on points difference alone. Last time out, a changed squad still got the job done against Salford Red Devils thanks to six second-half tries as they brought home a 46-16 result. Jacob Hardy's hat trick that day put the former Lock Lane player as the side's top try scorer this year, adding to his three tries against Castleford back in round two, plus Cobi Ellis and Dylan Hutchinson also opened their accounts for the year - Ellis scoring his first tries since moving into the Academy at the start of the year.
Ahead of a break that sees the Rhinos wait 28 days until their next game against Bradford Bulls, Walker's side have put themselves in strong contention to make the top four for the end of the season. With ten points in the bag, they look to extend that winning run in their second outing at AMT Headingley, before they face the Bulls, St Helens and Warrington Wolves in their next three matches.
Wakefield have already got as many wins as they collected last year inside of five rounds as Luke Gale's side currently sit level with four other teams on four league points. A rough start saw last year's semi finals Hull FC and Castleford Tigers beat Trinity in the opening games of the season, but wins against Leigh and Salford put the team back on track and higher up the league table.
Last time out, they fell victim to the high-flying Warrington Wolves, who posted 48 points thanks to two tries each from Bailey Lund, Alfie Poles and Junior Westwood. Another tough test awaits on Thursday against the Rhinos before a trip to Hull KR rounds off June. Looking at their five fixtures at the end of the season too , Bradford, Castleford, St Helens, Wigan and Huddersfield all await.
